Wow.  I am pretty sure when this family booked this family photography session, they didn’t expect it to be the hottest day of the year!  I don’t know how they managed it, but they didn’t even break a sweat, as we walked around beautiful Baker Park, in Frederick MD.  What lovely girls, inside and out, and they were complete naturals in front of the camera, as I  find girls of this age typically are.  I hope this family loves their photographs!

This was such a great and versatile location and we had a successful photography session, despite a bit of a rough start... nothing a few Smarties Candies couldn't fix, though. (Yes, I always have *emergency* bribe candy in my camera bag.)  These little boys kept me on my toes, but since I have considerable experience in chasing (and photographing) wild toddler boys, they were no match for me.

There are so many aspects that I love about photography.  The one that is probably the least expected is building a relationship with my clients.  After the first couple of shots with this family, the son grabbed my hand as we walked.  I love working with kids, helping them warm up to the camera and eventually getting them to forget about the camera so I can capture them being themselves.  At the end of this session if felt awkward not to hug them as they left.

There is no greater compliment than having a return client.  I did an extended family photo session with this family last summer at their home in Middletown, Maryland.  Both time C. melted my heart.  He is the cutest kid and he loves to have his picture taken.  He makes suggestions for poses and is so fun to work with.

One of my favorite locations is good old Downtown Frederick.  The options are limitless and Frederick has so much character.  Couple that with a two gorgeous sisters with an equal amount of character (and a little sass) plus a stunning mom--well as you can see, it's a winning deal.

I got home and was going through all the images and noticed that V. was such a little diva that she never once smiled.  She was very interested in perfecting her poses.  I think she totally rocked it.

I have a hard-fast rule.  I will take a mama picture every time.  I know how hard it is to get pictures with your babies.  Someone special taught me this.

I am pretty sure V. was warning me that I was about to get hit by a car.  We were on Market Street at 7 pm and had about 5 seconds to pull this shot off:)
