I me up with this gorgeous family in Middletown, Maryland for their family photography session. One of may favorite things is to photograph is my friends.

I've known this family for  a long time.  We have been to each others weddings and now our kids are friends.  Sadly, now that we both have two kids we are so busy that it was great to get to spend some time catching up and capturing some amazing photos.

The girls loved the horses at the farm, and the cat (luckily they didn't notice him eating a mouse) and all the dogs.

Seriously their beauty and the love just kills me.  What a dream to photograph.

I always require some photographs of mommy and the girls.

Newborn Photographer Frederick MD Jennifer Riley Photography Middletown MD

I have been waiting to do this photography session with Baby S. for a long time.  Her big sister is my muse, and the first child, besides my own, that I photographed when I got my new camera.  

This was the second attempt at this photography session at my home/studio in Middletown, MD  G. is pretty much my boys BFF and last time we attempted to combine a photography session and a play date and it just did not work out.  

Don't get me wrong, I am usually far more professional than this, but sometimes when you are working with friends, especially friends who live an hour away, scheduling a session gets tricky (plus sometimes us moms like to have time to hang out with the kiddos) .  

This session was done while G. and Cooper were at preschool and Even though I had Cass with me he was quite happy to help out setting up my photography equipment, entertain baby S., eat cold pizza and watch a show while I did the photo shoot.

The photograph above is Baby S. Wearing her mom's old baby dress!

It's not typical to get sleepy shots of a 2 month old baby, but Baby S. decided she was over her modeling session and it was time for a snooze in mommy's arms.

And we finish with my obligatory mommy/ baby image!  These are the shots that are nearest and dearest to my heart:)

Photographer Frederick MD "Watch Me Grow" Photography Session Jennifer Riley Photography Middletown Maryland

I first met Baby E. when I photographed her as a newborn.  I had just decided to see if I wanted to expand to be a newborn photographer.  She just may have been to one to persuade me to go in that direction.  I think I have yet to have a baby be such a perfect model.

Fast forward six months...  I decided to offer "Watch Me Grow" sessions.  Here she is at her second, of three sessions.  She is the sweetest baby.  

We had to get a photograph of Baby E. and her dog. Lucky.  The are totally best friends:)

I have a now "policy" I require moms to let me take a photograph of them and their child.  I recently lost a dear friend and among many things it made me realize how important it is to have mommy and me photographs.  I scheduled a session for my family right away.  So often the moms are the ones taking the photographs, and between that, and the fact that moms have a tendency to be self-conscious, and self-critical (I am so guilty of all of this...) there are way too few pictures showing the mommy-baby love.   I feel like having a photography session is a little life insurance policy.  You may think that is being a little dramatic, but you just never know... Ok I'll hop off my soapbox now. Well, book a session.  They just grow up too fast.

Sweet baby E. was wiped out from her session and fell asleep on her sweet mommy:)  Love it.

This is my second time working with this family and I am always flattered when people are happy with Jennifer Riley Photography and ask me back again.  Two months age I photographed newborn baby K.

This time I was working with baby K.'s older brother.  I knew he was 14 and into basketball. but when I saw him I was shocked at the fact that he was 6' 1"!

We started off with his causal portrait shots in the beautiful Middletown Park.

I have a new rule...I insist on having a shot of mom in every photography session.  I know that moms typically don't like to be photographed, but I feel that is is so important.

We were all most excited to get some basketball photographs.

This baby photography session was a total breeze!  Eight month old S. was born to be a model.  She started out in her gorgeous heirloom baptism gown.  

She was pulling out all of her cute baby tricks.  I think she was pretty used to getting her picture taken...

This newborn session too place on-location just outside of Frederick, Maryland.  I was greeted by the most precious big sister ever.

I always love a newborn photo session but I got really excited when I saw dad pulling out his fireman's gear.

  Between that and the fact that Baby B. was a perfect little sleeper for  his newborn photo session, this was one of my all time favorite newborn shoots.

 In case you haven't been following I have a slight obsession with photographing newborn baby feet...

And I will always include a mommy and me shot.  Moms don't always want their picture taken, especially just after they had a baby.   I personally am super guilty of not having pictures of me any my babies.  This mama is super beautiful and you can just see the love between her and her newborn baby...

I was so excited to have a family interested in doing a photo shoot in downtown Frederick.  This family did a great job of coordinating their wardrobes.  So, for me, this shoot was off to an excellent start.  

I love the love you can just feel here between the grandchildren and their grandparents

Another bonus was that between them, they had four children, which are my favorite to photograph  They gave me a workout chasing them around and a couple of hear palpitations as we were shooting on Carroll Creek.  

We finished the evening with some couples photographs with the beautiful sunset over the Frederick skyline.
